For me fashion week in New York is more about celebrities attending the shows than the actual fashion, in London it’s about pushing boundaries while Milan is all about the elegance. And Paris, well Paris is about distinct artistic creativity and keeping the eye on the clothes.
And this was the case at Jacquemus Spring/Summer 17 showcase. Here, super wide brimmed Spanish inspired summer hats were presented. The clothes themselves were less architectural this season. Wide arms and puffs, with doily details also making an appearance. The construction like the long robe worn over what looked like a pin stripe skirt as well as the hats, created a mix of Spanish and Mexican countryside style – what l thought as a conservative look. Like previous seasons, this collection sure did evoke an emotional cord – and that is exactly what made it so special. Simon let’s the clothes do all the talking!
