The Face Transformations of SA Menswear Week A/W16

Jenevieve Lyons A/W 16

Since its inception a year ago SA Menswear Week has proven to be a favorite among the three fashion weeks, especially for young artistic and niche designers whose brands seem to be built on artistic distinction and going against the norm. On that note, beauty trends seem to be having a moment in menswear, not only in S.A but internationally as well (think Hood by Air shows with artificial side-bends and darkened cut-out eyebrows and to be a bit extreme Agi and Sam S/S16).

Back to this season at SAMW, designers featured brown freckled faces as if inspired by Ralph Souffrant’s condition, modern traditional tribal and flowery art, green eyebrows, galaxy inspired make up and again more freckles. Not to say we will be seeing men in dramatic make-up in the near future, but these were rather used to complete looks and perhaps add that interesting factor to the usually muted menswear catwalk. It is after all fashion week. And whats fashion week if you won’t put up a small show and give people something to rave about.

Here,we take a look at the Top 4 moments that helped define the season.
