Channel O Awards 2014

Johannesburg, South Africa: The 2014 Channel O Africa Music Video Awards were held in Jo’Burg with performances from Mr Cash Time K.O who performed his 2014 mega hit “Caracara” before venturing into a joint performance with A.KA. The first award went to Zimbabwe’s Buffalo Souljah for Best Ragga/Dancehall. Riky Rick, Davido, Bucie, Maggz, and Donald also took to the stage while Cassper and Amanda Du Point raised a few eyebrows when they locked lips live on air during an award presentation.

Legendary South African group Boom Shaka were honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Delivering an emotional speech, the pioneering 90s group thanked the fans, with Thembi Seete almost breaking down to tears. ‘This is our first award people, this is our first award after so many years’.

Cassper Nyovest and Tanzania’s Diamond were the biggest winners of the night, walking home with three awards each. Uhuru  and Busiswa won Best Kwaito and Most Gifted Dance respectively. Other winners included A.K.A who won Most Gifted hip-hop, Tiwa Savage for Most Gifted Female and Donald Best R&B video for “Crazy But Amazing”.

Most Gifted Afro-pop: Diamond – Number One

Most Gifted Dance: Busiswa – Ngoku

Most Gifted Newcomer: Diamond – Number One

Most Gifted Male – Cassper Nyovest

Most Gifted Female: Tiwa Savage

Video Of The Year: Cassper Nyovest – Doc Shebeleza
